News and works in progress

On April 4, 2009, the Leila Taghinia-Milani Heller Gallery (LTMH)  in New York City helped launch Georg Gerster’s new book PARADISE LOST. PERSIA FROM ABOVE (ed. Maryam Sachs, Phaidon Press) with an exhibit of 29 fine art prints of images in the book.

Farah Diba-Pahlavi who as Empress of Iran had initiated and supported this bird’s-eye view of her country attended and saw after 33 years for the first time some results of this aerial exploration.  The LTMH exhibit will tour; among future venues are London, Paris, Dubai and Tehran.

The Rosamunde Pilcher’s Four Seasons was adapted for Tele München Fernsehr GmbH. The plot for the Summer season features Max Freeman, a celebrated aerial photographer whose small aircraft fails him – he crashes. In memory of Max and his work his partner in life (played by Senta Berger) mounts a gallery show. To actually illustrate the work of the fictitious photographer the production company Gate Television Ltd. chose aerials from Georg Gerster’s body of work.

The group Armani/Casa features 15 aerial views by Georg Gerster in a traveling exhibition that is being shown worldwide in the group’s boutiques and showrooms during two years. The exhibition opened in Paris (March 9-17, 2007) and  will move to Cannes, London, Madrid, New York and other venues.
